At Maje Coffee, we are the proud voice of Latin American coffee producers. We know the tireless days and nights it takes to plant, nourish and harvest the seed we receive to roast daily.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between origin and cup by roasting fresh harvest green coffee and sharing the exact story behind it. Every cup of coffee highlights the country, department, and specific farm your coffee comes from. Our goal is to connect and uplift our local community first, with a vision to share the rich heritage of Latin American coffee with the world.
After 14 years behind the bar and managing local roastery in the Bay Area, I realized the next chapter wasn't about serving coffee—it was about tracing it back to my roots.
Driven by a deep love for my motherland, I noticed Nicaragua was not highlighted by local roasters as needed but indeed Nicaraguan green coffee is the missing link in local roasting. I have turned my focus to sourcing and roasting green coffee from my beloved Nicaragua and Latin America while bringing the authentic, vibrant flavors of our soil directly to your home
As a young Nicaraguan-American woman growing up in the Bay Area/San Francisco, I experienced what a great Sunday morning felt like with my Cafe con Leche served by my Abuelita, Olga.
A typical Sunday morning meant waking up to the smell of a house-made nacatamal (a traditional Nicaraguan breakfast), a side of toasted bread with butter, y una taza de café con leche made with instant Café Presto from Nicaragua.
As I’ve worked along the path that led me to become a barista and now an operator, I realize it all goes back to my Abuelita—the person who rooted coffee in my life from day one.
With over 14 years of third-wave coffee experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the largest coffee roasting companies in the Bay Area. Now, it’s time to return to the green coffee origins that started it all.
Join me on this new journey as I represent the Latino coffee community—educating both coffee drinkers and newcomers on the history of our roots, one cup at a time.
Maje is a common Central American slang term (especially in Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador) meaning "dude," "bro," or "guy," used informally among friends.
As for us at Maje Coffee, it’s a word we use to refers to a friend and someone we welcome into our space and environment. So when you hear us say “ "¿Qué hubo, maje?" - What's up bro? It’s our way of showing friendship and welcoming
